BOOKKEEPER

Position Title: Contract Bookkeeper 
Organization: Chair the Love 
Organization Location: Longwood, Florida

Type: Contract 

 

Chair the Love is a 501(c)(3) founded to provide mobility to those with permanent disabilities that cannot afford or access a wheelchair internationally, nationally, as well as locally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Management: Maintain the general ledger using QuickBooks software insuring all daily bank, credit card, and CRM transactions are accurately recorded and classified.

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, prepare weekly check runs.

  • Reconciliations

  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to identify and resolve any financial discrepancies.

  • Perform monthly CRM reconciliations to identify and resolve any financial discrepancies.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare standard reports, including Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet) and Statement of Activities (Income Statement), for management and board review.

  • Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors by providing necessary documentation and maintaining an organized digital filing system.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and assist in preparing documents for annual IRS filings, such as Form 990and1099s

  • Internal Controls:  Assist management in implementing and adhering to new internal controls, as approved by the Board of Directors.

  • Software Transition: Assist with transition to a new CRM and integration with QuickBooks Online.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is often preferred.

  • Experience: Typically, 2–5 years of bookkeeping experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in a nonprofit setting

  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks Online/Desktop) and Excel skills for data organization.

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to identify financial inconsistencies and develop solutions to resolve them.

  • Integrity: A commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding sensitive financial data and donor information.

 

Typical Work Arrangement

  • Type: Contract/1099, part-time

  • Schedule: Often flexible, ranging from 15 to 20 hours per month 

  • Location: Remote
