2020 was a challenging year for everyone, and in many ways, nonprofits faced greater challenges than ever before. Many of our fundraising efforts were rescheduled, delayed, or even cancelled. But innovation thrives under pressure, and so, in October of 2020, we hosted our first ever Cuisine for the Cause: a delightful evening of fun, friends, food, and fundraising. Even with all of the preparation and hard work, nobody could have prepared us for the flood of support which we received: in one evening, we raised enough funding to allow us to purchase an entire container of wheelchairs for those in need. We got to see the impact of these donations during our Mexico trip, as we distributed 280 wheelchairs to people who, in some cases, had been waiting their whole lives to receive the gift of mobility.
We knew we couldn’t stop there. With the newfound realization that virtual events could be just as impactful as events in person, we decided to push further, and our goal now is to have a Cuisine for the Cause dinner in every state of the union by the end of 2021! It’s a lofty goal, but we’re fully confident we can achieve it with the incredible help of our sponsors and donors, who have brought us this far.
